1.  What is the purpose of Amusement Park History?
This site is designed to help facilitate the understanding of amusement parks, specifically the traditions and history that surround the industry.  All of this is original content and sources are cited when used.

2.  I have some old amusement park memorabilia lying around, do you want it?
If you have anything from older amusement parks such as souvenirs, photos, movies, etc., that you would like to share/lend me please feel free to drop me a line at the e-mail address below.  Do not throw away anything (photos, movies, souvenirs) from an amusement park.  If you are going to pitch it, drop me an email.  We would be happy to pay for shipping and get it off your hands.

3Why haven't you updated lately?
This site is done out of a love for history and is not (sadly!) our job.  We try to put new content up when possible and try to get one major update (trip report, section, etc.) up each month.  To find out exactly when the site was changed check out the Updates page.

4Whose images are these?
Unless otherwise noted, the images here are property of Amusement Park History & Adam Sandy.  They are from a personal collection of photographs and postcards that we felt should be shared instead of locked away in a dusty old box.

5I represent a buyer for a mass media organization, are your images available for commercial use?
Yes.  I have almost every image on this site (except those provided for the Coney Photography page and those provided by the Library of Congress) is in my personal possession.  However, we just do not sell our images to anyone.  The news story or documentary you represent must be painting an accurate picture of the amusement industry and not follow the pathetic trappings of shows like Dateline where sensationalism has taken a back seat to facts.  If you are Senator Markey, or of his ilk, you need not apply.

6Are high resolution, digital copies of these image available?
Yes, I can scan these well enough for use on television.

7.  I am starting a website, can I use your images?
No.  I spent a long time assembling my collection and built this site around images not seen on every internet site.  However, once your site is online we might reconsider (see the next question).

8 I have an existing website, can I use one of your images?
To use one of our images you must have a website that has unique park-related content.  If you can point to a page and/or situation you have that warrants your use of one of my images please email me and ask-do not simply take any images.

10You have a lot of sites on the Links page, what do you visit on a regular basis?
I visit Ultimate Roller Coaster for the content and message board, Roller Coaster Talk for e-mail discussion, Screamscape for news & rumors, Matt's Carnival Warehouse for content and message board and Tim Melago's Directory of Amusement Park & Roller Coaster Links to guide me around the 'net.

11Can you help me with a school project?
Unfortunately we do not have time to help you do research.  Please be sure you page through all of our offerings and see the roller coaster history pages at Ultimaterollercoaster.com before asking.  However, if you just have clarification or specific questions please feel free to contact us.

12Why haven't you answered my question?
As we said earlier, this website is an effort done in free time.  We try to get back to you in a timely manner but sometimes it takes longer than we would like.  If we have not responded in a few weeks ask us again, we may have forgotten.

13A lot of sites look better than yours, why don't you invest more time in coding?
We readily admit that this is a pretty simple site compared to some of those out there.  However, our goal has always been to provide content with substance.  There are a lot of coaster sites out there, however we feel that there are few that match us when it comes to beating the writing quality and unique topics found here.

14Are there any groups that celebrate amusement parks and roller coasters?
There are lots of these groups!  The ones I can highly recommend are:

15 What are some non-Internet resources you suggest to keep up with the industry?
If you
want to stay informed the only publication worth having is Amusement Business.  Known as the amusement industry newsweekly, AB does not print press releases or fluff stories.

16Why are the images on your site so small?
If we would load every picture at a large size our site would take a long time to load.  This is why the pictures on our pages are small but link to high-resolution scans of the same images.

17Will you add my link to your links page?
If you have a site with unique content and will return the link, we would be happy to do so.

19Will you design a ride/design a park/plan our marketing strategy for us?
No, but if you write me I will be happy to advise you where to look.

20Why haven't you reviewed my favorite park?
Obviously there are three main sections when it comes to park reviews- Coney Island, defunct parks and trip reports.  The availability to comment on current parks or coasters is based how my travels pan out.  If you really want to see what I have to say about your favorite park mail me a check and I will be happy to visit
.

21You seem to have an anti-corporate and chain tenor in many reviews and mentions, why is that?
Aside from the standard reasons that many like traditional amusement parks (the atmosphere, friendly employees, groups of families and clean midways) there is a business angle to this philosophy, too.  I do not mind a chain like Six Flags simply because it is a chain.  My main problem are the huge chains like Six Flags that act as an impediment to the industries' growth.  While good for the industry and guests alike in the short-term, having a small pool of buyers and a business-driven philosophy (instead of the guest-first school of thought) lead to problems with all facets of a park.  The more amusement parks one company controls the more safety, guest relations and other parts of operations suffer.  If the amusement industry is to succeed in the coming years we need less consolidation and parks learning how to market other attractions besides coasters.
