Riverview Park Today

This is the roughly a little bit south of where the station for the Comet roller coaster used to be.  The photo looks south, the Chicago River is to the right and the Shoot-the-Chutes & carousel used to be down the path, a little to the left.

These are two views of what is left of the Shoot-the-Chutes.  This is where the elevator shaft was and the boats were lifted to the top of the tower while still full.

This is one of the park's main midways looking east.  From here the river is a couple of hundred feet to your back, the Chutes were to your left, the carousel was to your right and the midway stretched all the way to the front gate at Western Avenue.

This is roughly where the center of the carousel mechanism was.

The Bobs roller coaster used to have its station near this location and ran back in the direction of the photo.

This is Lane Technical School.  It opened in 1908, was dedicated in 1909 and was often seen from many of Riverview's rides.

This piece of artwork stands in front of a police station that occupies the former grounds of the park up to the corner of Western and Belmont.  It is entitled "Riverview" and was created by local artist Jerry Peart in 1980.

The photo on the left shows the where the park's main gate used to stand.  In the distance is the police station and the intersection of Western and Belmont.  The shopping area is called Riverview Plaza.  If not for the sign you would not know that an amusement park stood here.
